Mads Juel

Mads Juel holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy (2017) and from The HISK in Ghent (2016), as well as a BFA from Malmö Art Academy (2015) and The Cooper Union in New York (2014).
In 2024, he participated in the ISP Maumaus in Lisbon.

Juel works with text, photography, and book production, exploring through these media the interrelations and power dynamics of language and bodies, informed by queer theory. In his practice, he combines conceptual ideas about language and linguistics with a poetic vulnerability.

In Skagen, Mads spent his stay preparing a subsequent solo exhibition at Skal Contemporary at Det Grå Fyr. Mads was particularly focused on the nature around Skagen and had many meetings and exchanges with representatives from the Danish Nature Agency. In addition, Mads was also involved in the town's art school for children at Kulturhus Kappelborg, where he served as a guest teacher during the period he was in the town.
